Woman Sexually Assaulted in Hampton Nursing Home By on April 14, 2010

According to the Examiner, a resident of a Hampton, Virginia nursing home was sexually assaulted by another nursing home resident.  Reportedly, a witness saw him fondling the resident.  The information right now is quite limited so it is hard to tell whether the sexual assault was preventable.

Nursing homes have a legal obligation to take reasonable precautions to protect their patients.  Those precautions can range from checking the police sex offender registry when a resident is admitted or a new employee is hired to intervening when a patient exhibits inappropriate sexual behavior.

We have a website devoted to the legal issues surrounding nursing home and assisted living abuse and neglect.  Click here to visit the website.  If you have particular questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (804) 288-1661.
